Are The Patriots Embarrassed?

HydrantHydrant Posts: 7,773 ✭✭✭✭✭

Not so much about the 47-17 blowout last week but more about the fact that 2 of their ex-quarterbacks are looking pretty good in the playoffs so far. Something has gone horribly wrong.

Pats fans are definitely not after a 20 year run of excellence.

Belichick maybe since Brady is still elite.

I agree with you Perky.....The original title of my thread did ask about the Pats fans but I realized that was a mistake...... Still, since we're talking about the fans......are they just a little upset about the Pats management letting Jimmy G. and Tommy B. get away? I would be.

From a fan standpoint,no way, and its not like the fans had any control over who plays QB for the Patriots. If they did we would have never seen that horror show of statistics a season ago with Cam.

From a organization standpoint, I don't really see how they should be embarrassed because Brady & Jimmy G are playing elsewhere. Since Garoppolo was traded NE went to two SBs winning one of them so sticking with Brady was/still the obvious choice. Also when you factor in that JG has missed 24 of his 70 regular season games in SF whose to say that wouldn't have been the same in NE had BB kept him instead? The guy is injury prone and is likely to be playing in a different uniform in the near future. That countdown started the day that SF decided to trade up to #3 to draft Trey Lance.

Maybe the team was a bit embarrassed when Brady won a SB in Tampa Bay but its not like they would have been able to put the type of quality offensive weapons that the Bucs have around him had he stayed in NE. When you look at the 2019 & 2020 NE offenses it was basically Edelman,White and a bunch of JAGs. Sure this past offseason Bill went out and splurged in free agency but a large portion of that cap space came from no longer having Brady's dead money on the books.

I do think that they're embarrassed about the way they lost to Buffalo and they should be, they played horrible in that game on both sides of the ball.

Gotta take the bad with the good. The Patriots are in arrears on the bad

Better question is , should the Patriots have kept Jimmy G?

Or will the Niners resign him? All signs point to no they won't.

Mac Jones game is similar to Jimmy G 's so I think the Pats did fine

No,keeping Tom for close to three more seasons was the correct choice. At the time that Jimmy was traded, his "greatness" was based on less than 6 quarters of football where he had all offseason to prepare for the Arizona Cardinals opening game. He didn't even make it to halftime in week 2 against Miami before getting hurt and that has pretty much been his M.O. since going to SF. One great year, then to IR the following year.

I think a lot of the Jimmy G. questions will be settled tonight. If the Niners win.....Whoa!.....if not well, no big deal because
Rodgers is , well Rodgers. The Niners are a good team but what impresses me most about the team is that Jimmy G. does not seem to be playing under any pressure at all. Ever. No matter the situation. I think that rubs off on the entire team and it accounts for a lot of their success especially late in this season.......I brought the subject up of Jimmy G's cool attitude under fire to my secret inside source.......his reply, "Look who he played backup to in New England.....he learned from the best."...... I'm looking for an upset tonight......but....that's mainly because I've always been a closet Niner fan........they do have the best uniforms in the league after all! It will be a good game. I hope.

Jimmy Handsome doest look like he has a care in the world. Watch him after every colossal mistake he makes. It's all the same to him

The Brady magic was gone in New England. He had no one to throw two.

Goroppolo is too injury prone. That may have one of reasons why Belichick let him go.

Pats have nothing to be embarrassed about the last 20 years. Actually they have much to be proud about. BTW a quality QB who knows he would start for many other teams does not want to sit on the bench waiting for the superstar QB to retire.

Things can get real interesting If Jimmy wins tonight and Brady wins tomorrow then we should get one hell of a game next week with a trip to the SB on the line for these former Pats QBs. BB & Kraft might have some regrets watching that one play out.

Jimmy G is a joke of a QB. The Pats were 100% correct to dump him. Brady was offered 20 mil for three years, but he wanted 30 mil for five years. Pats were right not to offer him a five year deal. Sometimes you can't work out a deal with someone if they're unreasonable.

I don't think he is a joke of a quarterback, but I do think that he just has a personality that sees humor in everything and is able to put things in proper perspective. That's not such a bad way to go through life. When all is said and done, football is just a game. You win some you lose some.........I have been told that he is a nice friendly person.

You just summed up his football career. As Vince Lombardi allegedly stated "Nice guys finish last". Brady is a winner because he hates losing. Jimmy G loves playing the game and winning is just a bonus. Nothing wrong with that, but I'd hate to play with a teammate that doesn't get upset when their team loses. Playing the game is fun, but losing takes a lot of the fun away!
