Interesting old book. What I found most interesting is that the prices quoted were actually offers to buy.

The book covers Colonial, obsolete type coins, lots of gold, and ancients.

It's pretty fragile but I did get photos of a few pages. I think I remember picking this up when I was in my 30's - half my life ago.

Enjoy.

Yeah, I have one older. You could buy a 1794 cent for like $5. Funny stuff.

All the coin collectors then were worried about the hobby because all the collectors were older. :)

Great old book. Geez, the markup on those coins - that's outrageous :D

Kool book... I have one laying around somewhere from the 1920's. Those coin prices are insanely low !!!

Of course you could get a pretty decent house for about $5,000 back then too . . .

Nice old book. I would surely buy one if I saw one at a bookstore or flea market... even ebay. I enjoy old reference books and have others on different topics of interest. Cheers, RickO

They used to pop up on ebay quite a bit, not sure about now. They aren't expensive.

@amwldcoin... Thanks for the tip. I do not go to ebay very often, but I will check. I would like one to add to my numismatic library. Cheers, RickO

I knew this book was at the bottom of the bin,but until last night I hadn't investigated it.

It pairs nicely with a token I recently acquired.

Surprises weren't limited to books either.

Although I found a couple Fell catalogs in the mix, this little Peace Dollar really took me by surprise. It was mixed in with a page of 1922 Peace Dollars.

    I didn't think I owned a 1921.

Well I found one that fits into my end of the month budget. Thanks for introducing me to these. Will go nicely in my WW2 themed collection. 👍🏼( it was a little more than the $2.50 sticker 😂) I just noticed it is the 42nd year for the book and 1942 year of publication. How cool 😎)

You can usually pick up decent copies for $5 or less. I have a set of the monthly magazines, those aren't nearly as cheap.

Mehl printed these by the thousands. I think there were about 60 editions total.

We’ll also need period correct currency but I think a average quality $5-10-20 dollar bills are cheap compared to the gold coins we could buy. Wouldn’t need but a classic briefcase for the bills going and the gold returning 👍🏼
