Ephemera Newp: Amon Carter, Jr. Helps Walter Breen With National Gold Bank Notes
I posted this on the currency forum as well, but thought I'd post it here since both of the participants are well-known for coins and some here might find it interesting.
One area of ephemera I collect is famous numismatists. I've been looking for something signed by Amon Carter, Jr. to frame with a couple of pieces of Prisoner of War Mail of his from when he was a POW in Germany during WW2. This came up on eBay cheap and I jumped on it. Breen apparently reached out to Carter for information on the National Gold Bank Notes he had in his collection, sending him a list of ones he needed serial numbers and other info for. Mr. Carter made his notations on Breen's letter and returned it to him. I received the letter today- not sure if there is any useful info in here but it is interesting!

I think the postmark says 1976. Very hard to read it, even under good light.
One ounce postage rate 13 cents in 1976. Two ounce was actually 24 cents, but most people usually just double up which is why we have 26 cents worth of postage.
Makes sense. Mr. Carter probably figured with 5 pages plus his note it needed more postage.
I remember Amon very well. Great guy.
I find it interesting, coin related or not and would never have read it on the currency pages. Thank you.

Very interesting... Thanks for sharing. While not about coins, it is communication regarding currency between numismatists. Cheers, RickO
