I encourage you to sign up for Informed delivery at USPS.com. It gives you a scanned image of all the letter sized mail that you should receive that day. If something is missing you would know right away.
From a retired 34 year city letter carrier. Tom
USPS Informed Delivery emails are excellent, in my experience ... even if my only mail is a Blue Ray DVD from Netflix. My carrier used to come a little before noon ... almost like clockwork. Since COVID, I rarely see her before I leave for work at 3:00. Tracking alerts have recorded deliveries as late as 5:30. I live in Southwest Wisconsin. Staffing shortages are hurting all sectors of the economy.
All postal services are extremely variable based on where you live. I had great service for 30 years and would know within 15 minutes when my mail would arrive, now it's a 6-hour window.
I don't have any mail coming to me any more as I quit buying and selling coins at the end of last year so if someone wants to steal my mail all they are going to get is junk mail and bills which they can pay for me if they would like. If the mail is still there in the morning I will pick it up.
IMO FedEx is having worse staffing problems, based on personal experiences in Dallas and Seattle. Read that UPS much the same. USPS has been much more reliable, Still waiting on an accurate delivery date from FedEx for a few supplies sent from VA on the 18th. Estimated delivery has been missed twice and "pending" as of this morning. In the meantime I've had three USPS deliveries of coins with later ship dates.
another enjoyable post to follow! and i would add please leave your mail carrier a thank you gift each Christmas, maybe a coin or crisp hundred dollar bill to show your appreciation for their hard work. I know my carrier really appreciates it, which feels really good inside.
No problems at all with USPS. PCGS mailed my coins on Thursday and they were delivered to my door at 1pm today. Also have Informed Delivery since it was started and it works fine for me.
But seriously, in the past 3 months, a $540 package from the Mint went "missing"...and the Mint replaced it with very little hassle. I was tracking it and...poof...it just disappeared from radar between the Mint's shipper and my Manhattan post office.
And then last month, they misdelivered an eBay coin purchase...got the delivered text message...ran down to my securely locked mailbox 5 minutes later...and nothing. All my normal mail was there, but no coin.
They either delivered it to the wrong box in my building or delivered it to another building. But regardless, since it was recorded as "delivered" in the USPS system, they told me to go pound sand. They also refused to honor my insurance claim since they said it was delivered (it absolutely wasn't...not to me, anyhow). So be warned about thinking you have insurance against losses/theft in shipping. If the USPS says they delivered your package ANYWHERE, you're absolutely screwed!
Now, by comparison, before these past few months...I never lost a coin in transit.

My coin must be hanging out on a beach in PR with a cold beer ...
That is so crazy. I hope you get your coin soon. Please let us know when you finally get it.
