New convert to coin collecting thanks to the U.S. Mint honoring women in history

An interesting thing happened today. My daughter, who has never shown an interest in collecting coins, texted me this morning asking about what she should collect of the women in history series, the silver proof set or the circulated set. I explained the difference and the long term commitment if she wants the entire set run and she decided on the silver proof set. So the U.S. Mint has successfully converted her into a coin collector where I have failed in the past. So proud that she wants to collect the honorees that are reflecting the fine women in our history.

There are other various and a sundry coins and medals from other series.
Not sure how challenging a first spouse medals set would be
There are a couple women in the Native American coins and there are a few in the commemorative
The Alabama quarter from 2003 with Helen Keller is worth consideration.

I think that’s a great story. Great designs and remarkable women. She might also want to look at some of the UK Royal mint coins this year honoring the Queens 70 years as ruling monarch (in addition to her US collection). There are some inexpensive clad coins available
I always like the Susan B Anthony dollars - easy to collect them all and a cool series and interesting story too
Don't forget the coins with Lady Liberty on the front
Just in the past couple of years I’ve started to really look at the Susan B Anthony obverse again and it’s really not bad at all.. she was a stern looking woman but it’s still an attractive design.
I love the reverse of the SBA Dollar

Much like the SHQ series, this will attract some new collectors to the hobby. Likely some will branch out to other coins after a while too. Cheers, RickO
