1982 d error

Hello. I am not very knowledgeable about coin collecting or error coins. So please dont be too hard on me. My husband and I thought a coin collection would be a cool hobby we could start together and I have a couple questions. First, how do I go about getting started up? I am clueless. Lol. Second, I found this penny 1982 d and it looks like it may have some errors. I am not really sure what I am looking for so I am hoping if I post a picture someone could possibly tell me if I am right or just a total amateur. I sure would appreciate the advice. Thanks so much also how to upload the photo. Lol.

Welcome to the forum!
You found a great place to learn and get some help.
Once you are an approved member you can post photos and get some opinions.
As far as getting started, read, read, and read some more. This forum is a great resource and has a search function. Most questions that new collectors have are likely answered multiple times on these forums. Good luck and most importantly, have fun.
A good place to start would be picking up a current copy of the Redbook.

You also need to start knowing what you want to collect
Browsing the red book will give you an idea for colonials and us coins
Of course there are ancient coins and world coins.
Questions? Just ask.

Oh yes how rude of me Welcome to the board. The only reason I asked about this coin is I have seen a lot of post about 1982 and 83 coin’s so I didn’t know if someone was promoting it as a big $$ error then selling it to a new collector as such and it may not be one.
There are some errors in this date but you need to know what to look for this is why the board members up above that have a lot of experience say look at books and know what you are buying before you buy or sell because you could loose a lot of money.
Here is a book you can look for at your public library they may have it if not Amazon my have it, I found mine at a coin shop. It has a lot of good info in it with pic or you can look at coppercoins.com and there are other as well, This is the book called the cherrypickers guide. Have fun and be safe.

@Amscozzaro73.... Welcome aboard. Excellent advice above about acquiring the Redbook... online or most any bookstore. This covers all U.S. coins and gives approximate retail values. Condition is prime. It is unlikely that your cent has "... some errors.".... Most likely it is Post Mint Damage (PMD). However, it is important to post pictures so we can factually evaluate the coin. You will need to wait a couple of days to become an 'approved' member, to post pictures. Be patient, it is forum protocol. We look forward to helping you with coin collecting - it is a great hobby.
Cheers, RickO
