@Ryan1111 .... There is some serious staining of some sort on that cent. There 'could' be some wood grain beneath the stains... I would recommend an acetone soak to remove the surface crud. It will not harm the wood grain, if it exists below the stain. Others will contribute here shortly, so wait until you get further input. Cheers, RickO
The coin you show has little to no value above face value. It does appear to be a "woodgrain" cent but the market for those is thin and they usually have to be in mint state to attract any buyer interest. In addition your coin shows some matter on the surface that could hide corrosion.
The chances of your finding anything in circulation that will have any real collector value is low. The online videos that promote finding a fortune in your pocket change seem to be launching a new wave of roll searching but anything good was gone from circulation 60 years ago. Minor "errors" and "varieties" may be fun to collect but they have little value to most collectors. Finding the collectors who will pay a premium for them will be a feat.
Thank u both RickO and 291fifth for yalls advise o. This coin.... I haven't seen nor heard of the wood graining b4 and just kind of stumbled across it while looking up my 1926s... the pics and videos of what wood grain looks like on coins , to me, look exactly like what's on my coin... I thought it looked like almost a thin splatter of gold or glitter gold paint 🎨 almost but the pics and videos looked the same. I have a few coins out of the same book (my great grandmother passed down to me) with the same thing that almost looks like a sticky form of burgundy mushroom gravy on it.... they are all interesting to me and I spend days going thru pocket change bc of these misleading videos.... I truly thank yall for ur help and taking time to give an Ole greenpea a few words of wisdom... blessings friends👌
