Does this Trade Dollar belong in ZoidMeister's or my collections?

Here's a 1876 Centennial Trade Dollar that's been marked by the "Z"!
Is this "Z" a known chopmark?
Is there a catalog of known chopmarks?

That used to belong to Zorro..... Sorry @Zoins, could not resist. Cheers, RickO
Was that done with a hammer or a sword??
This used to be my forum avatar for a long time!
I would like to think a newer collector such as myself, might be considered 😂. (Zyskowski).
No really I was thinking you should flip a coin 😉
🎶 shout shout, let it all out 🎶
Looks more like a modern punch than a chopmark to me

@Zoins.... I like that old avatar.... Cheers, RickO
To answer the OP's questions, yes there is a catalog of known chop marks. It is put out by the Chopmark Collector's Club. I do not have my copy handy, or I would look yours up.
Letters and numerals were sometimes used as chop marks. Yours does not look exactly like a Z to me, but regardless it looks like a legit chop mark.

With the piece of 8 Reales, you could break it up and distribute in the event of a dispute. How would one go about doing it to this trade dollar?

But we'd need to cut it up so we each get part of the "Z"!
We now have 3 people with @Jzyskowski1!
I can help make it easier to be split four ways instead of the more difficult task of cutting it into three because after all there is a Z in my username too

Me too
Pretty soon it will be a Piece of Eight!
Lets cut it into 1000 pieces and share it amongst the forum members.
