The $20 Large Cent Set adds an 1803 this month...

This is a set I started 1st in 2012.. the original set was sold off with the exception of the 1857.. This is my 2nd attempt to build this "Budget" set and after 2 years I think It has come along nicely
The rest of the set can be seen here... https://www.cointalk.com/media/albums/the-2020-20-large-cent-set.1855/
With the cud under then 18 I'm thinking she is a s-263...

Nice! I like the idea of the budget collection.

A lot of history in that coin. Thomas Jefferson was president and Lewis and Clark began to lead their Corps of Discovery in their exploration of the American west. When I get an old coin, I like to do a web search using "What happened in 1803" or any other date of interest to see what happened when my coin was minted. It really makes my coin come alive.
Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.

Nice old cent and a fun, while not super expensive, set to build. Cheers, RickO
These old but inexpensive coins are fun to hold in your hands without an intervening plastic coin holder. It's literally holding history in your hands.

After reading mrweaseluv's post last year about his "budget" collection of U.S. Large Cents I decided to try that myself. Some of the very first coins I ever bought were Large Cents. Back in the late 60's they were available for as little as 50c from dealers. I still have the 1800 Large Cent that I purchased from Irving Doktor for $2 back in 1971. It really is a lot of fun going on the hunt for a set of coins with a max average price set on the cost per coin. I have completed a run of 1825-1856 with an average cost of less than $21. I was quite surprised to find that there are some pretty nice looking coins available in this run for less than $20. Someone with more patience than myself could certainly put together a nicer set.

Nice to see another budget set
I've been told by a few that they have started similar sets, but this is the 1st other i've seen
Nicely done @PipestonePete
