1941 Mercury Dime with Two-Sided Toning and a Neon Reverse
Another coin that's been in my collection for a long time (I think I got it while in college) but has never been posted here. It's very lustrous and has really pretty color, but the way the surfaces illuminate has always made capturing the color difficult. I'm finally pretty happy with how the photos turned out, so here they are. The coin isn't perfect (notably that dark spot in the branches) but overall I think it's rather pretty and it looks really nice in hand. PCGS MS66.

Nice Mercury Dime, Jeremy. Acetone may remove the black spot, but wouldn't think it could hurt. You captured the vivid colors very well.

It's not growing, and I'd have to think about whether it's worth cracking the coin just to try. I suppose PCGS could do it, too, but factoring in the grading fees, I wouldn't be surprised if that would end up costing more than the coin itself.
With such nice toning it's easy to overlook that little spot. Beautiful dime!
WOW! Very nice - PCGS conserve?

Removing that black spot may leave an unattractive surface.... I believe it is best left as is. Cheers, RickO
And you probably mean that in the context of the rest of the surfaces being super attractive, right? ...riiiiiiight?

Actually, yes... for many collectors. I do not let my personal preferences interfere with my understanding that people have different perspectives when it comes to coin, art, life partners, etc..

Secretly I think you like toned coins

Love that look on a Mercury dime!
