@1630Boston.... Thanks for posting those articles. Is it not amazing how time changes perceptions?? Tarnish was abhorred and to be avoided back then.... Now people pay unbelievable premiums for it. I have other uses for my money.... ;) Cheers, RickO

Cool, I’d like to see how some of the wrapped coins from way back then look today.

I have 13 rolls of uncirculated / proof like Canadian silver dollars that I wrapped in aluminum foil and then brown wrapping paper in the 1970s that haven't seen the light of day since. Next trip to examine the stash I'll have to open a roll and see what they look like.

Most aluminium foil is made from pure aluminium, but increasingly alloys are used to improve properties and reduce the thickness required. If you want to make sure that the Aluminium foil you're using is pure, the only way would probably to ask the manufacturer.
    .
Reynolds Wrap® Aluminum Foil is 98.5% aluminum. The balance is made up of other elements: primarily iron and silicon

Here ya go, pulled out a roll of 1963s, 14 BU and 6 PL that I pulled out of sets. They look as nice as they did the day I put them away around 50 years ago.....

I’ve never wrapped coins in AL foil to prevent tarnish, but I have been wrapping new PCGS slabs with it before shipping so that the NFC chip can’t be read through the packing🤓

I've been wrapping my head in aluminum foil before bidding on ebay so that the competition can't read my max bid.
