Missing From the Mint

OnastoneOnastone Posts: 3,997 ✭✭✭✭✭

I've been buying a Birthday set for my Grandson each year, he's 5 now, and thought this would be a cool way to get him involved with numismatics. I usually buy them right after the new year starts but wait, what?? There isn't a Birthday Set this year... now I wonder what else the mint might be missing.

    Sorry to hear that.
Common sense is probably one thing they are missing 😉

Any program that doesn't have a large profit margin from the man makes no CENTS to the u.s. mint. This is sad but true. I've also heard rumors that 2022 will be the last year the mint will produce pennies. With that saying the USM will never make CENTS ever again.

I’m wondering what to do about the reverse proof AI ‘s I bought as singles that are now in the 4packs. I threw the one from this year in the trash along with the uncirculated set. Junk!!

I was looking for the "Birth Set" (i.e., 21RD in 2021).
Could not find it on the 2022 schedule either.

Have STARTED to look for a back-up.

In my case, the 2022 version of this looks interesting, if it becomes available.
For you, this may be of interest.

Get him a regular mint set and a quality magnifier. He'll love it.

I bought the birth set from 2021 for my second grandson born in September...good thing 2022 will be a quiet year and the mint somehow knew there were no births to be celebrated.

I guess you just need to buy him gold now.😉

When he gets a little older, get him a Red Book and a few inexpensive older coins such as a few Indian head cents or a few buffalo nickels. Coin books really make coins come alive.
