It may look like a chinese character but it's just damage - Pareidolia has taken over
"When they can't find anything wrong with you, they create it!"
Maybe I am missing something. Looks like damage to me.
Thanks for your comments, I also thought it was damaged too, but it is actual 2 chinese letter characters below M & R which can be found in chinese dictionery.
What do the Chinese letters translate to in English 🤔
Mr_Spud
Translation is parking lot error.
Pareidolia, as already mentioned. It is not deep enough nor is the depth even enough to be intentional stamping or engraving.
. You've got similar marks elsewhere on the coin, too the left of "one" and above the "E" in "one". Why aren't you also trying to read those marks?
“ONE”
“CENT”
Is english
Well, if you can see Chinese letters then might as well also be able to see fish on the cent...........?
"When they can't find anything wrong with you, they create it!"
What kind of fish is that?
Catfish?
We need EmeraldATV to translate this for us. If there's something there he'll see it.
Are you sure you are not already talking to EmeraldATV?

Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
I really think that could be a catfish
whale shark maybe?
Thanks, I'm just learning about the coin, Its only been about 6 months looking through the lupe.
Maybe that Chinese letter is a clue?
"When they can't find anything wrong with you, they create it!"
I see a goat.

There’s a dark area there that is a perfectly made car window ice scraper
Thanks to all, but I still don't see where the fish is.
I'll send it out to grade to satisfy my curiousity.
$30 to grade a coin worth $.01, sounds like a great idea.

The coin is worth only 3 cents
It should not be graded.
I think that cent circulated for a while in China and that's a chop mark placed there by a Chinese merchant to attest to the authenticity of this cent.

It really is not worth sending in.... You already have expert input here on the forum, from very experienced coin professionals. It is PMD, not engraved characters. Cheers, RickO
