The Dansco, "Toners Only" SOLD THE ALBUM of 20!

Hi guys,
I recently just won a great prize from my YouTube friends, Shaun/Blueridgesilverhound, on the live stream. Where they always post and discuss my coins at. About a $35 value!
Shaun gave me the option of 4 other prizes. I chose the most coolest, I think? Since I chose the Eagle album, I am seriously considering to fill the album with only raw toned ones. I'll attempt to only find the most eye appealing Eagles. I do realize this will take some time and some serious cash. It will be my first coin album in my collection. Lol. I used to have many complete coin albums but end up selling all of them. In which, I regret. Needless to say, at the time I did in fact NEED the cash. So I am content. The last Silver Eagle Dansco album I had was filled to the year, 2005. I remember, I did receive $600. I'll keep you guys posted in my selections, if interested? Lol

Joey I just can’t get over how much I like my Littleton dime albums. Got part two for Christmas 🤶 from my grandson 😉
These are their high end volumes and are very nice. Having filled some pages almost half way I noticed the view of the coins is awesome. I can view a group and really enjoy how they present themselves. I couldn’t find the Dansco and the others were too much money for me.
Never thought I would enjoy them because I was comparing them to the inexpensive pop the coin in and go. Congratulations and I’ll share some pictures as we go along. ( I’m mixing toned with blazers). Circulated, uncirculated and proofs.

I just noticed that most Silver Eagle Dansco albums on Ebay are averaging about $50-$60? I thought these were cheaper? Wow.

Nicely toned examples can get costly @joeykoins . A completed album with nice toners would look great thou. Dont rush the purchases and I think you will love the end result.

I have kept my Eagle dansco full until this year. 86-2020. Once we get a house and can everything out of storage, I may try to update it. You will have fun filling it.

Congratulations on landing the album.

My ASE set cost me about a thousand bucks along with the Dansco album that was snagged for about 25$

As for toned coins, I would have absolutely no clue about prices, but posting the archive pics below of my set to show as to how haze and milkspots are becoming more obvious in a few of the ASE (especially the 1996 and 2012) and toned coins might just hide those flaws.

That would be a challenge.
I have a few 'toned' ASEs but collecting toners with the premium they command wouldn't be my cup of tea.
I usually pick up the current year at a coin show but missed out this year

Id suggest just getting white ones and putting them in the album without the slide covers on and let nature do all the work. Put it someplace warm with a little humidity.

I have the series, in proof coins, up until about 2010.... Still in mint boxes, no album. Since then, I have only purchased special issues.... Cheers, RickO

I took mine out of the dansco album because I didn’t like the plastic can do slide damage to to coins.
So I put them in black plastic capital holders. When you open it to put another in or to look at at you
don’t need the slide the plastic obverse the coins and damage them. Plus it make for a nicer display….IMO.

One way to get somewhat inexpensive toners is to check eBay for "NGC Toned" silver eagles as NGC won't slab toned Eagles- no matter what- without a problem insert. There are some genuine NT coins to be had. I crack them out and sometimes- if the toning warrants it- send to PCGS, where I have yet to have one not grade out.

Thanks. You certainly are correct being hesitant about the sliding plastic grazing over the coins. I would wait till you have the coins to finish that row. This way, you'll only be sliding the plastic over the coins only once. No more sliding that plastic for that row.

Large coins in Dansco albums are an accident waiting to happen. They do look cool though

I've had my Dansco for around 30 years or so. Only the first page had the dates listed. The rest did not. The book is now filled up to 2021 T1. No room for the 2021 T2.

PS, I am not certain I would spend an abundance of cash to buy toned coins. I would buy natural white coins and let your album tone them over time. The AT coins are just horrendous and not worth the money in my opinion.

The screws holding the pages in the Dansco albums are long enough to add one extra page to keep it current.
