The mint struck 1964 dated 90% silver coins through learly 1966. This overlaps the striking of clad coinage, so it's possible that transitional Errors could exist.
There are various and numerous coins that should be clad struck on 40 or 90% silver but there is one beautiful and unique coin that is supposed to be silver struck of clad. It is a 1964 quarter in AU-55 on a clad planchet; and almost certainly an explosion bonded clad planchet.

What is an explosion bonded clad planchet?

Agree. The mint had a large supply of .900 fine silver dime planchets in stock and they decided to use them up so they continued to strike silver dimes using 1964 dated dies until April 1966.

The other half of that was that the 1965 Coinage Act (same one that allowed striking coins w/o mintmarks) explicitly allowed the striking of 1964 dated coins until there was a sufficient supply of the new clad coinage.
