Sitting in a pool of acidic water at the base of the monument, does not bode well.
Glad they found it, but I'm not sure society will appreciate what's inside.
Just a guess, you know...because they ripped the monument down and all.

Please don't let the lady that opened the first time capsule open this time capsule. Took way too long for what needed to be done to open it.
hopefully there is a lid to pop off
another news source says it will be opened tomorrow.
I knew they were looking for another capsule, since the first one differed significantly from the published descriptions of the box at time of interment. Should be fun to see what this contains. Cheers, RickO
The opening is live now:
He who knows he has enough is rich.
An 1883 dime was just pried off of the back of a bible. Looked pretty tarnished.
Also found an 1886 Morgan, an 1853 ?quarter?, and a large cent that she couldn't read the date.
All had terminal natural toning.
I read they found some confederate coins in an envelope
the contents of the below article could invite complaints from both sides regarding the history in the time capsule
do not get caught up in the heat.
there are some generic mention of coins, and those can be discussed instead
An envelope of Confederate Paper Money was found but could not be opened until conserved.
They were able to separate the Confederate money from the envelope and appears to be $10, $5, $2 and others.
The interesting part is how a number of items have surviving twins outside the capsule
Here are a few pics of the Confederate Money.
Too bad no 1887 gold.
