This is unreal

Don’t know how I missed this! I noticed it after I got my latest edition of Numismatic News. This far exceeds the 1944P and 1946 P walkers that each sold for six figures! It’s not even a pop one coin…it’s a pop 12 with none finer. Congrats to all involved!!

I would put a bigger one on if I knew how!
I agree, I changed it.
Hmm, none were mine thank God
I believe that they used a picture of the half dollar by accident, because it only sold for $48,375. I suspect they intended to use a picture of the MS67 1893-S Morgan Dollar.

Paying that kind of money for what is essentially a common date coin, regardless of the grade, ... (fill in the blank).
Why is that?

Thanks for the clarification. Now, it makes sense.

They showed the wrong coin pic. Read the post before yours.

Actually, I have much the same feeling regarding the 1893-S Morgan Dollar. It is very popular but not very rare. (And I'm not counting all the fakes!)
PCGS has graded only 10 examples higher than MS63. The date is certainly very rare in higher mint state grades and the one that’s been posted is one of a kind.

... but you have to buy into the idea that very high grade coins deserve prices that reach into the stratosphere. I don't.
Ok, glad we got some clarification.
$48k for a stellar albeit somewhat common walker is strong but not insane money.
I was speaking mostly to your comment that the 1893-S is not very rare. And there’s certainly no requirement that you or anyone else buy into the idea that very high grade coins deserve stratospheric prices. But the market seems to feel otherwise.

Well, if the Market doesn't agree with me, what good is it? 😈
No bids were mine. That's a bit pricy for me
Thanks. I thought you meant “thank God” none of the coins were yours and couldn’t understand why you’d feel that way.

Well, if I owned a 2 million dollar coin, if would stress the hell out of me. Bad for my mental health!
No worries
Before the clarification, I was amazed...was going to get my books and find out why....
Now I see it was in error... Still a very nice coin. Love those high grade WLH beauties.... Cheers, RickO
$$ and sense, it's hard to argue with 291fifth's perspective.
