TPG cross-overs

mark_dakmark_dak Posts: 1,133 ✭✭✭✭✭

I'm curious, when coins are sent in for cross-over grading, do the numbers get adjusted (-1 +1 )for both grading services? If so, is this the case for each service? Which ones may not adjust for cross-over?

Thanks,

Mark

No it is up to the submitter to return the labels to the original TPG so that TPG can update its pop report. Sadly very few ever do this which is why the pop reports are so bloated and useless.

No. PCGS sends you back the labels. What you do with it is up to you.

That's why the population reports are not very accurate due to the cross over.

It has long been an issue with people not sending labels to the TPG when coins are crossed. Makes the pop reports an exercise in futility. Cheers, RickO

Thanks folks, thought I've heard that before. I can understand there's no answer for crack-outs but some dialogue between services would certainly be beneficial for both customers and companies ability to display a more accurate count.

    Thanks for the responses.

Agree, thinking about crossing a few over. I will if I do because one or two are low pop coins

At one time PCGS paid 50 cents for each returned label. Do they still do this?

IMHO crackouts are a much bigger problem.

No way that'd happen now. Like the ferengi, greed is eternal.

Not sure if they still do it….it’s a good idea though. Maybe offer free grading vouchers for a certain amount of returned labels. Good incentive for pop control.
