UPDATE: My Missing CC & O Shipment/Coins...Mint Just Sent Replacement Coins Out of the Blue!

So...an update on my Morgan Dollar misadventures with the Mint...a brief history:

Like everyone else, I battled on Day 1 to place my order...and successfully placed an order for 5 privy CCs and 5 Os...which I believe was the HHL in force on that first day...and then like everyone else, I waited...until I finally received a message that the coins were shipped on 10/24.

After about a week, I checked the USPS tracking that revealed that the Post Office never received the package from the Mint's Indiana Jones style warehouse...so after another week, I called the Mint and was essentially told "Don't sweat...the shipment will get moving soon."

So then I waited...and still no movement...so I called back [again] the day after Thanksgiving and again laid out my case, but by this time I also knew that others on this board had similar issues and had their missing coin shipment essentially replaced and reshipped.

After arguing on the phone with increasing higher levels of customer service droids, I was assured and reassured and re-re-reassured that nobody had received replacement coins(!!!) and that the only thing they could do was to apply a credit to my card...but only after another 4-6 weeks...because they would also attempt to trace the missing package.

So I reluctantly agreed...and then nothing until this Tuesday afternoon when suddenly the coins went back on sale...so I logged in...AND SURPRISE...I WAS BLOCKED DUE TO HITTING THE HHL...ON MY CANCELLED/REFUNDED ORDER!

But wait...there's more...

At 2:30 Tuesday afternoon, I then received another shipping notice...completely out of the blue...with a totally different tracking number. Apparently, my "cancelled" 10 coins had been found and/or replaced and were again on the move and are supposed to be delivered this weekend.

And that's where I am now...thoughts/comments/recommendations for alcoholic beverages...?

    Make sure the tracking number works!

    For all the wrong they do, they seem to have a perfect handle on contacting and collecting regarding amounts due

    Don't celebrate until you have the package in hand but it sounds more promising.

    So now they will automatically reactivate cancelled orders? It worked out here, but there could be lots of times that would not be desirable.

    I have a friend that ordered 3 Peace & 3 P Morgan on release day.
    Fast Forward He received a shipping notice for the 3 Morgan and a notice of "Backorder" for the Peace.
    About 2 days later he gets a shipping notice for the Peace dollars.
    The Morgan's are showing by the tracking that they are moving in the system and he gets them about 3 days later.
    The Peace dollars show a tracking number but it shows still at processing facility.
    He waits about 10 days and calls the mint and they said they would look into it.
    When he called back they said we will just refund you so they refunded the 3 Peace to his card.
    He thought everything was done, about 10 days later he gets a notice of shipping with a tracking number.
    The package shows up with the full original order of 3 Morgan & 3 Peace.
    His card was not charged again so he got 9 coins for the price of 3.

    I encouraged him to do the right thing but am not sure what he did.

    Don't worry they'll get their money or take you to collections (so don't spend it). Their assurance to you that none were replaced, reminds me of the assurance that no UHRDE had shipped until a PCGS graded coin's results were publiished. They never apologized or corrected that mistaken assertion. The US Mint (not their contractors) needs an Ombdudsman. someone who ONLY recieves and properly addresses customer complaints.

    The mint will chase you down to collect. They will also put every other order you have on hold until they receive their $. It will take them weeks to sort it out even if you are proactive. Keep this in mind if you hope to order anything in 2022.

    This situation will be topped off when my mailman leaves the package...assuming it arrives...on the stoop AND IT'S STOLEN!

    By being proactive your enrollments and future orders should be protected. If you wind up on their naughty list it’s much easier to get there then work your way off.
    Karma, if you believe in it , dictates the answer “ do unto others “. even the mint. Stealing is stealing and not the right thing to do 😉
    As far as beverages treat yourself to your favorite. You deserve it 👍🏼

    And...another update...after nearly a 2-month delay the replacement coins were just delivered!

    Will wonders never cease? Santa's elves must be hard at work!
