Numismatic Crime – Coins Stolen in Transit From FedEx

Major FedEx Theft – Florida to California

The contents of a package being shipped via FedEx from Florida to California have been stolen. The package was last scanned in Memphis, Tennessee. However, FedEx advised the box was empty.

Coins Missing or Stolen Post-Baltimore

After returning home from the recent Baltimore show, Delaware Valley Rare Coins has reported several coins missing/stolen.

6 pieces of 1914 China Yuan Shih Kai Dollar, $1,200
10 Pieces of 1912 China Tibet Tangka, $600
6 Pieces of NGC graded Mexican 8 Reals and British Trade Dollar, $3,600

    Oy! I only ship FedEx Priority Overnight, signature required. While I’ve never had a problem in either direction, this post is going to feed into my slight touch of paranoia, and keep me up at night! Did you notice the super high grades of the stolen coins from the FedEx box at the top of the OP?

    Fed-Ex seems to be getting worse! I have a package that was supposed to be delivered Saturday Signature required. Then I get an email it's arriving Friday. Nope! Saturday afternoon I get an automated phone call to make sure someone would be home Sunday as it required a signature. Nope! Then the website says Monday. Nope! Today it just says delayed delivery pending. Their tracking is also way less precise than in the past!
