An endocrinologist is a doctor who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of hormone-related diseases and conditions.
Pcgs Cert does varify coin and grade.
No showing of label.
If possible, a picture of the reverse would be appreciated.

PCGS set registry top set? I recall if you had the top set and under certain limitations (number of coins in the set, completion of set, etc...) you could get your set's coins labeled to indicate it was a top set.

I thought of that and came up empty for a couple of reasons.
First, to have a top set, the 78-D in MS65 wouldn't come close to cutting it. Too many MS66 examples are out there. Also, I see none registered under that moniker in checking the Registry.

The auction didn't show the complete back (just the coin). I'll take a photo of it and share it when it arrives. (What should I be looking for?)

that's a gen 4.0 holder so it could have been a very first Set Registry winner that got the aforementioned "complimentary provenance" assigned to it, since deleted or retired and no longer viewable. take the easy way out, call customer service and/or post at the Registry forum for help. also, PM Segoja since he should know all the Eisenhower Dollar collectors of any notoriety.

PCGS gen 4 holders were used from October 1998 thru February 2002. The vast majority have 7-digit cert #s. The transition from 7-digit to 8-digit cert # occurred around early December 2001. Hence, this coin was certified between 12/2001 and 2/2002.
There was an MD endocrinologist Ike collector back then with a top registry set who used the handle "endocrinologisr". Back in 2002, it was certainly possible to complete a top Ike set which contained only an ms65 78d. As I recall anyone who had a 90%+ complete top registry set could submit the set for reholdering with labelling indicating name of set.

And. . . within an hour and a half, I have a definitive answer!
Not an amazing and hilarious answer, though. So sad...

I remember him,,,,, he did have a registry IKE Dollar Set among others.
good link which also contains posts from Tad, aka supercoin, who was sort of the originator of all the "Peacock Hoard" Eisenhower Dollars. he was never really pinned down on the authenticity of the toning on those coins and faded into obscurity after prices for them skyrocketed and things had been played out. I enjoyed his participation here and PM'd frequently with him. my inference from that is simple, the "Peacock Hoard" coins were AT'd.

Maybe it was from a collection owned by a wealthy doctor!!
I thought that was the code name for the man on the coin!
I think the Secret Service referred to him as "Cue-Ball"

Also, it could have been part of a type set. There are all sorts of odd labels out there.
I remember him,,,,, he did have a registry IKE Dollar Set among others.
Don't know what happened to him?
