If you are talking about the D shape above the 9 that is post mint damage (PMD)
The S appears to have a slight amount of doubling from die erosion or mechanical doubling. No extra value
A mint mark wouldn’t be punched there so you can be certain that isn’t it. It’s almost certainly damage, staining, or something else that looks like a D.
