1823 Mo-JM 8 Reales. First republican date.
@KingOfMorganDollar your posts are like a conversation with yourself. Why not consolidate posts into a one, single, coherent post?

Were these done after Augustin was out of power?
Agustin’s 8 Reales had his bust on them.
Just was not sure thought maybe they were done before he left power. So the hooknecks are the 1st thanks.
Iturbide was an emperor. I don't think an emperor would deliberately issue coins describing the country as a republic.
I figured but just wanted to make sure. So the 1824 up right eagle is the 1st 8 reales with that new design correct? Seems like the up right eagle stands for Mexico taking their pride back by this design. No more bowing to outside leadership is what I get from this design I could be wrong.
@KingOfMorganDollar, this book is a great reference to Cap and Rays 8 reales:

****EDIT:
Duh, I actually put this in the wrong dormant thread (was searching for 1824 Mexico 8 reales, this also came up).
Going to move this post to that correct thread. Then probably time to stop posting tonight!
I updated the title since you revived this very old topic. From DELETE to what it is now.
Sorry about that... change this one back to Delete or blank or whatever.
No I will leave it as is.
