$10 Liberty Gold Eagles - My Date Set Attempt

I began a gold type set last year but have been especially drawn to $10 Liberty Gold. I have a very ambitious goal of putting together a date set. The toughest dates will be 1838-39, 1858, 1862-1866, and 1875-1877 which are the highest-weighted dates on the PCGS Set Registry. Below is my progress to date:

I think your idea with this series is pretty cool and I wish you luck with building a set.
That's a nice start with nice coin like that
Great start. I like the $10 Liberty's as well. The prices for many of them have not jumped like Double Eagles have. I think more people are finding this hidden gem series though. Good luck.

I do recommend Q David Bowers "A Guide Book of Gold Eagle Coins". Color photos of every coin. A great resource.

$10 libs are my favorite US series. Best of luck on your quest!
I'm doing a gold type set right now. The big ones were surprisingly easy. Kind of stuck on type 2 G$1 and $3. I mean, nice examples are out there they just all seem to be trading at prices for the next grade up. Just haven't found a good deal yet.
If I ever get like Elon Musk money I'll definitely blow a large wad on a complete mint state set of $10 Indians. Think that's my favorite series of all of them. The smaller Indians look like cheap imitations, only interesting because design is incuse. I did get one $2.5 Indian with really cool green iridescent toning on the reverse though. Will be keeping my eye out for more little green Indians.
You have a long road ahead.
Good luck!
I have the 20th century version on my list in the future, but that is a long and expensive series! Good luck.
Beautiful start! I have a couple, but this is the only one I have a photo of. From my type set.

Ten dollar Liberty’s have not done very well price wise in general so your timing may be good . This may have a lot to do with European hoards like the Fairmont Collection that recently hit the market and the possibility of future hoards.
Nice start!

I think you will really enjoy collecting that series by date. You will really start to become an expert in the series by focusing on it. You will learn little tidbits here and there that you wont get with a type set. Also, keep in mind if you complete the set by 3/4 you will have an amazing collection---you dont have to ha e every coin. Finally, in a long series like that---dont compromise. You have many holes to fill. If a coin is not all there, fill a different hole. Good luck!
@mcarney1173 ... Nice beginning.... Will be an interesting project. Keep us posted as you add coins. Cheers, RickO
mcarney,
You look to be off to a good start. If you haven't yet, take a close look at the coins in the Jacobsen collection, which Heritage sold in Feb 2020. An outstanding set of liberty eagles.

A great series!

Good luck on the endeavor! I've always loved the $10 Lib....Dreamed about owning a proof cameo version! Here is my one and only... 1901 in MS-64+ CAC.....Best, Eldo
I had the same dream. I saw the proofs at the ANA this past summer. Outstanding coin in proof. It's fun to dream. The meteoric climb in gold coin prices will keep it a dream.
