Silver Eagle Reverse Proof Designer Set PCGS PR60?

Hello,
I recently got my graded coin back from PCGS for the silver eagle reverse proof designer set.
I had it graded as a first strike and did not open the original packaging from the US Mint.
I was shocked to find out it got a grade of PR60 from PCGS. Most proof coins grade around 69 or 70 (with few little lower), but i have NEVER seen a 60 before. I thought it was an error by PCGS.
Upon close inspection, i can see that the relief is not as detailed compared to my PR70 graded coins, but i didnt think that it was that bad. There are certainly no other hairline cracks or visible scratches that would warrant a 60 grade.
Does this make my coin that much more rare or am i stuck with a paperweight?

It would actually be worth more to me as a PR60 than a PR69. Perhaps other collectors feel the same way.

I suspect it is an error in the number on the cert. Did you type the cert number into the PCGS certificate verification? If they match it would be worth a call to cust service.
I doubt that it's a 60.

Mechanical error?

it could be a label-making error.
pics of both sides would help.
what is the certification number?
a coin that pulls a 60 would have to be pretty beat up. looking forward to confirmatory-contradictatory pics
we do not need it, but it might be helpful for you : to find your submission number
If it is a 60 then yes a paper weight.

Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
yes i checked the population report and the cert number it reflects as a 60.

stack the pics... put the obverse on top and the reverse UNDER the obverse
Proof 60s are real dogs. If your coin does not have any serious problems then a mechanical error is likely the cause of the grade you received. Contact PCGS customer service to resolve the problem.

I'm in the mechanical error camp. I've NEVER seen a modern Proof coin graded that low. Call customer service.
with a 60, you wouldn't have to look for marks. immediate noticeability of many, many marks, no magnification required.
Pictures please. Just use your phone. Practice a little bit and post us a front and rear. Obverse and reverse in coin lingo. Welcome and excuse me for getting excited but there has been some really unusual issues with these. Thanks JZ 😉

Lowest is 66 other than the 60. Definitely a low ball piece.
Lowball is PO-01
A 60 for a modern is a PO-owner
If it's a mechanical error, then it is really a 69 or 70.
It is virtually impossible that it is a 60.
Yes....that is my 60...
You call and start arguing “mechanical error” and what they will hear on the other end is “I’m not happy with the grade”
I’ve never encountered a “mechanical error” like this before, but perhaps someone know the PCGS paperwork hustle such that maybe graders put handwritten numbers on the sub forms.
Perhaps you can email them a link to this thread
I have no clue but that is nowhere near a 60.
The difference here is so great that I’m calling it a pcgs mistake rather than a “difference of grading opinion”
Get your submission number ready and prepare for phone calls to them.
Worst case is you have to pay for - careful with the choice - “reconsideration service” so you can keep first strike on the label
Do not remove it from the holder under any circumstance
Likely a 69 typed as 60 in error.
It's an error coin!
Could be a 70 as a 60
Which digit is wrong? First or last … or … both(!)
Definitely not 60. Can't wait, one of my unopened sets sitting in QA.
Maybe ask for Heather to chime in?

It would be nice to know if there are handwritten graders’ notes that could be referenced
no handwritten notes that i can find.
Just the invoice along with the confirmation of each grade and cert #, which validate the 60 grade.
I’m talking pcgs internal notes

Notice How Many Hits it Has
a 60 is markedly worse, pun intended.
Sure doesn't look anywhere close to a PF60. Like others stated, label error,
"When they can't find anything wrong with you, they create it!"
Now the question becomes leave it in a very cool unique error holder or send it back. Me I’d keep it as is. So cool and a fun example of buy the coin. It’s awesome and thanks for sharing. JZ

You’d save everyone a lot of trouble by purchasing the coin at a 70 valuation
That's the problem. You can't ever sell it.
@PCGS_Moderator can probably get you in touch with the right people to have this looked into.
"It's like God, Family, Country, except Sticker, Plastic, Coin."
Why not? I know a few Label error collectors that would buy it - just not sure for how much though..........
"When they can't find anything wrong with you, they create it!"
I’ll bet you can get 70 money for it and probably more😉
A certain cricket went for how much?

Obvious mechanical error. Some people collect these and would pay more for the coin than what a 70 goes for. It may take a while to find them, though.

With buyers fee - $5906.25 Not bad for a cricket?????????
"When they can't find anything wrong with you, they create it!"
at least the cricket had provenance
I would leave it as is. Makes it more novel and interesting. Besides which, if it ever starts spotting that grade will be closer to the true value.
I have a proof 64 Deep Cam Silver Eagle I got on eBay and had to take it to a dealer friend understand why it was graded so low. It too is a keeper.
Dubious honor, but could be quite the rarity, coin weenies flock to.
I would sell as is, someone will pony up for the plastic (and the paper insert.)
Put it on eBay with a high BIN and see if you get offers.
Its a POP 1. LOL

That certainly does not look like a 60, but better pictures (full obverse and reverse, straight on) would let us look for any potential hidden issues. Cheers, RickO
