Sometimes I search Europe for coins....grading in Germany...
Took me a while and thought I'd share my translations from German to US grading:
S = Fine
SS = Very Fine
VZ = Ex Fine
VZ-ST = About Unc
BF = Unc
ST = Choice Unc or Select Unc
EA = Gem Unc
That's about as close as I could decipher, enjoy and use if you'd like to search Germany/Austria

I propose we use the German grading system here on the forum for future GTG's
Convert the abbreviations to words and no matter how nice the coin I’m sure the grade makes it seem like someone is yelling an insult at the coin.
There is an idea for a numismatic reference book... Compare/translate the standards from various countries.... The Alibaba standard will be easy.... all Gem/Uncircs...
Cheers, RickO
I’ve had the opportunity to work with engineers in Germany on product design and component approval. If their grading standards are as stringent as their engineering standards you will never have to second guess a grade. They are as nit picky as they come (not in a bad way).

Freshly-minted at that!
I knew it would happen.
