I see some really neat off-center Lincolns ... but I don't buy coins in the newer ANACS holders. The slabs are just way too ugly (I know, I know, buy the coin, not the holder). Bring back the small white holders, ANACS!

Always looking for original, better date VF20-VF35 Barber quarters and halves, and a quality beer.
Thanks for posting that. I would never have found this auction. There are almost 600 items. It will be fun to watch and maybe bid on my first error coins.

You could always buy them and submit them to PCGS.

Glad to hear others say it. It blows me away that Anacs doesn’t adopt this simple change. The slab is fine, make the label look higher quality. Yellow is awful. The cost should be very little compared to the benefit.
Below are the 2 images of the 2 proof cuds that you are comparing:
They look sequential or possibly within a strike or two apart.
Coincidentally, in the Heritage FUN Auction is another one that is HUGE!

It appears the error market is large and thriving..... I do not collect them, but I really like seeing them and understanding how they happen. Cheers, RickO
This set doesn't have a provenance listed, but it reminds me of the recently sold Don Bosner Collection. I thinks great to have provenance associated with errors and we need more of it!

Struck- thru’s can stick to the die, change shape, change size etc.
To complicate things more, here is another proof Kennedy with the same cud and struck thru…..but also with the broken piece of die that fits over the cud!!!

welll thanks for postintg that for more reason than just 1. i just learned the forum doesn't like the .tiff format image you posted, at least on my pc.
i've resaved it as jpg so everyone can enjoy it.
edited to add this inquiry. have you ever seen a proof with the fragment struck through and subquestion, have you seen any with letter/number transfer like we've seen on some business strikes?
Yes I have seen proof coins with imbedded fragments.
Here is a proof Lincoln Cent certified by NGC, with a piece of broken die imbedded, selling for 9k in Heritage:

A sea of yellow.
Those are in the January 3rd Monthly Heritage Auction of mint errors. They have been online for awhile.
Here is the Mint Error News link to the article that showcases a few of them:

What about the silver holder. The reverse proof dime looks pretty good 😉

Only made it through the cents. Lot of this stuff is low value common errors.
This!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
IF, and that is a big IF, ANACS were smart, they would adopt that silver label for all their holders.
That alone would make newer ANACS coins way more marketable.
Yellow is about the worst color ever to match with valuable coins.

these 2 look awfully similar?

Here is an earlier article in Mint Error News on Don Bosner’s prices realized on his error coins in the Heritage Auction.

one is listed as a 72-s and the other 73-s. that isn't the odd part that stood out though. the "strike through" from the chin on both coins?
i guess that would indicate something stuck to the die rather well to make it past one coin.

thanks a mil. that simplifies it!

$1000 for a cud on a '79 Lincoln? That's a head-scratcher.

The 1944 cent struck on Honduras coin is pretty cool.
