Odd 2017 D nickel

Hello all,
We found an odd nickel in our daughters piggy bank and I can't identify the type of error it has. It seems like it's missing the middle layer, with the raised ridges and odd angle around the edge of it.
While I don't have specific weights, it was lighter than the 4 other "normal" 2017 D nickels I was able to weigh it against.
Does anyone know what type of error this would be? Thanks in advance for sharing your knowledge!
I'll try to add pictures but it's been a few years since I've used a message board lol.

Sorry, here's the links instead.
Nickels have no middle layers
What are the weights for all five coins?
Unfortunately, I was going off of feel, I only have a very inaccurate analog cooking scale which won't read the differences. I can say it's about 1/3 lighter by feel than the other normal ones.
Post the photos here.

Based on your description only, it sounds like
the nickel is damaged or has enviornmentally
damaged surfaces.
Understandable. I'll keep trying to directly post the pictures.
The outer rim/edge has been mechanically damaged
Something has pressed the metal and, as a result, the metal at the rim has moved both up and down.
There is additional sign of mechanical damage on the dome of Monticello. This is why it is worn flat but the rest of the coin doesn’t show nearly as much wear
Thank you MsMorrisine! I'm sure this changes nothing with your analysis, but in an effort to provide all information possible, it is approx. 10% taller and 10% less circumference than a normal nickel as well. I'll be able to weigh it tomorrow and provide actual weights. Is there anything I should look out for with that measurement that would be worthwhile to report?
Its a dryer coin or one that has been spooned. Not an error no value over $.05

A nickel weighs 5 grams with a tolerance that I don’t recall
It is taller and smaller in diameter because of the mashing at the rim/edge. The metal that was out there was moved up and down. Where did the metal that went up and down come from? The metal that was previously made up that now missing diameter.
My logic as well honestly, but this isn't exactly my hobby so I'm not about to make assumptions like that, you know? But thanks a ton! Very weird nickel, but nothing special.
Here is a more extreme example

Looks like someone ran it through an upsetting mill.
I wish these people who start spooning coins for rings would complete the process.

Yep... Rim has been spooned or hammered and it looks like it was in a clamp (damage to dome of Monticello) while turning it to evenly deform the edge. Cheers, RickO
