Robert Griffin III writing tell all book about Washington Football Team
RG III is writing an explosive new tell all book about his time with the Washington Football Team, the book is called "Surviving Washington."
Robert Griffin III writing 'explosive' tell-all book about surviving Washington's toxic culture
Former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III promises to shine a light on the toxic culture within the Washington Football Team, which he's calling "the most dysfunctional professional football team in America" in an "explosive" tell-all due out next year.
'Surviving Washington,' a memoir written with Gary Myers, won't be out until next year, in Aug. 2022, but RG3 is getting the word out now that he's accepting pre-orders for it.
"Now every experience that I've ever had has made me a better husband, a better father and a better player," Griffin says in a promotional video posted on Twitter. "But I want you to take this journey with me as I walk you through one of the most dysfunctional franchises in all of sports."
"I'm gonna tell you the truth about what happened in that playoff game in 2012 against Seattle," he said. "I'm gonna detail the medical mismanagement that I received during my time in Washington. I'm gonna open your eyes to the sexual harassment that permeated the walls of that building, and give you a deep dive into a power struggle between one of the most powerful coaches in all of sports and an owner that many of you want gone. They say the truth will set you free. So here it is, unfiltered. Pre-order now."
As Ben Standing humorously points out, it was only two months ago that Griffin was telling ESPN's Adam Schefter he'd love to go back and play for Washington again, to "be able to have that come full circle."
RG3 in September on the Schefter pod about Washington after the Ryan Fitzpatrick injury: "(I) would love to go back and be able to have that come full circle."
RG3 today: That place was hell and I'll tell you the truth so pre-order my book.
Anyhow, publisher Simon & Schuster describes the book as a "one-of-a-kind, explosive tell-all from former franchise savior, Robert Griffin III," while promising to detail the "shocking mismanagement and toxic culture within the most dysfunctional professional football team in America."
If you can remember back to Jan. 2013, Griffin was insistent upon returning to that playoff game against Seattle, and did, before his knee ultimately gave out completely, something Griffin himself maintained after the fact.
Here's how Griffin's publisher sets the scene from that day: "It was clear to anyone watching that night Griffin was seriously injured. However, he was cleared to reenter the game. Late in the fourth quarter, his knee finally buckled. The entire stadium attendance fell silent as Griffin was helped off the field. In less than a year, he had gone from franchise savior to fallen star."
Anyhow, the "eye-opening and moving" memoir pledges to shine a light on that infamous playoff game, as well as the "toxic environment" Griffin witnessed with "medical mismanagement and sexual harassment in the most dysfunctional organization in sports today, overseen by Daniel Snyder."
"A football memoir unlike any other, this is a powerful story of survival and the importance of speaking up no matter the risks," Simon & Schuster writes.
Once more, the book won't be available until Aug. 2022.

Here is the RG3 talking about the book.
Does he include that he was a straight up bust too?
I will give him this from observing that game on TV. At the time, RG III was the franchise for the present and the future. The stupid, short-sighted coach put him out there when he was badly injured and could do little for his team, risking his future, which looked to be long and bright. If I had been the owner, I would have gone down to the field and told the coach to take him out of the game. Failing that, I would fired that coach immediately after that game. There is no excuse for what that coach did.
Subsequently RG III’s agents got him a contract that ended his career. As I remembered it, if RG III played and got injured, he was to be paid a boatload of money. Therefore, he never got to play.
RG III may have been a great player, but that play-off game ended it. He has a reason to be bitter.
I wish RG3 knew something about those Jon Gruden emails, I would love to hear about it. At least they do have a movie coming out soon about the email scandal, and Gruden and Goodell will play themselves in the movie.
I'm sure there are some truths he can tell, but does he have to? It's up to him. I'm also sure that he is trying to re-write the narrative on some things. Being such a public figure as this, and writing a book about your experiences such a short time later, will easily lead to many examples of doublespeak.
I will say, whether he wanted to go back in or not, I remember thinking that he shouldn't.
Hopefully RG3 saves a chapter to tell everyone about that time that Poop Water rained down on fans during a MNF game between WFT & Seattle...LOL

😂😂😂😂 The whole organization has become a laughing stock!
Before that injury, he was a very entertaining player to watch. I realized at the time it wouldn't have been sustainable, but I remember thinking that he was a great combination of athleticism and throwing. Amazing results in that short burst of awesomeness. I wouldn't want him for my team but loved watching him.
Fans getting rained on by sh.. water, the organization is a joke!
Can you imagine, can you just imagine, being a fan and you're sitting there eating a hot dog and all of a sudden you're drenched in dingleberry juice?

No comment about the book idea but one thing is certain~Shanahan screwed him over by leaving him in that playoff game vs Seattle when it was obvious he was injured.

.......I agree with that. Even if he wanted to go back in, everyone watching from home understood.
Why would he? He wasn't. He was a Pro Bowler and Rookie of the Year who put up excellent numbers before getting hurt.
.........
As I said above, I really enjoyed his play. He definitely burst onto the NFL scene with more than just accolades (2nd overall pick, Heisman, etc). He actually came out and did what we often what or expect a rookie QB to do. He fulfilled it. Until he didn't. And that injury was gruesome to watch. I think the way he went out still qualifies him as a bust, despite all that I wrote. Not mutually exclusive.
Personally, I don't include guys who get injured as busts (unless it's something stupid like Brien Taylor wrecking his shoulder in a fight). To me, busts are guys who just suck for whatever reason. Ryan Leaf, Jamarcus Russell, etc. Losing your ability because your knee got wrecked is a lot different than a bust, IMHO.
..........
I can see your point in this case. He really did do everything and more that was expected, albeit for such a short time. Once certain injuries occur, we might as well be talking about a different player.
Shanahan never won anything without TD. Completely overrated coach
