Where are all the nice cap & rays 8 reales ?

I cannot find any I need nor any that are really nice . I searched sixbid....nothing.

Nothing in leading dealer inventories .

Hats off to @TwoKopeiki who informed of a date on ebay i needed( and bought)

Other than that .....very dry.

What gives?

There are more 65’s and 66’s on the market vs any other time that I can recall. High Prices brought out the common date gems. The rare dates however I imagine are held by stronger hands.

Brian I think that is true yet I don’t see many 65 or 66’s like I used to at least it’s been that way for a few months now .

Did you pick up an EoMo yet? I don’t recall if you won the Clyde Hubbard piece in the Morten & Eden sale. I had a nice but low grade 35 which was stolen in the mail that I wish I still had.

    That's a great coin, Dan.

There was one that we looked at together that was a 62 that was best in class in Chicago. You may want to follow up on that one. Sometimes they don't make 65-66 in this series.

I purchased a raw 8 R collection two years ago. This one came on the last NGC batch.

It has a fantastic look in the true views. I love the warm toning.
Do you have any other pictures of that one?

One more with similar color to that of the 8R posted by @Euclid ---

    1877-Ca GR, PCGS MS64 (pop 1/0).

A personal favorite, I'm using this as the Chihuahua (Ca) mint representative in my cap and rays 8R branch mint type set. There are four different assayers known for 1877-dated 8R's minted at Chihuahua -- AV, EA, GR and JM. Scarce per Dunigan, he calls it the 2nd most difficult assayer of the four (per Dunigan, AV is the most difficult). The PCGS pop report is in general agreement, with only one MS example of each assayer. Four coins total have been graded of the AV assayer while only two have been graded of the GR assayer. The NGC census paints a pretty similar picture. While trivial, this is a 100-year birth coin (1977 baby) of my little brother, making it just a bit more special for inclusion in the set!!!

That is a very nice and tough coin to score! .....please let me know if you ever want to part with it !

    Here's an actual 1857/5 Go-PF (vs the often mis-attributed 1857/6 as 1857/5)

I've seen that MS65 before that NGC attributed as a /5 and if memory serves me correctly, it's a /6 too. This is really the first /5 I've ever really seen.
