Reminds of an evening long ago when someone told me something similar. Anyway......I was so heartbroken(?) that I laid awake all that night just looking at the clock......because...... at 7 o'clock the next morning I was going on my first date with the future Lovely Mrs. Hydrant. Didn't want to be late! Trip to the Snowy Mountains. Four children, four daughters in law, 14 grand children, and a wonderful wife later, I look back on that fateful evening when I got dumped I and think........WOW! DID I EVER DODGE A BULLET! That broad was a nutcase.

I don't know what Downey, Ca. and The Carpenter kids have to do with any of this but, my cousin was a friend of Karen Carpenter. They went to high school together ....in Downey...she played the drums and sang with her brother back then at little local gigs. I thought it was weird. Still do. Anyway,..... anyone here been to Downey lately?......the passing years have not been kind to Downey. YUK!

@Hydrant I do agree, the years have not been very kind to Downey. It used to be a really quaint nice town atmosphere
but not any longer. There are a few spots here and there but very few. But, not many nice towns in southern Cali
remains quaint. They say it’s progress……..I don’t agree

My contribution to the classics discussion. A rare, recalled by the record company, album cover from my collection. This original album cover was released three days before their plane crash. MCA Records quickly replaced it with a similar cover that had no flames.
