Are those currently being offered somewhere? I'm looking for a 1912 $5.
I work in a coin shop, and they came into the shop yesterday with a large estate, the owner sold them to me for $50 over melt each, I couldn’t resist that deal. $480 each.

I agree, I’m going to make a thread over there momentarily. I just figured over here maybe the Morgan collectors may know something...
These are 40 years after the Morgans. GSA is a government agency with only a couple connections to coins. They just found a couple things Treasury misplaced.

That’s a really nice pickup then. Congratulations.

Thanks! I couldn’t pass it up. A few years ago I wanted to do the six coin set, but gave it up after having a hard time finding the 5’s for a reasonable price.
So it’s pretty ironic how these came across my path yesterday out of nowhere. I guess I’ll once again pursue the 10’s. Heck I’m halfway there at this point. Even if I don’t, just having all three fives perfectly matched like this is pretty cool in and of itself.

I almost bought the 6 coins set when it was first offered. I totally forgot about it until today when you posted this. Thanks for reminding me. Just what I needed. Another distraction.
@pcgscacgold ha! I know.
I largely forgot about these too until yesterday evening when they were set on the desk I was sitting at and offered to me at that price. I wasn’t really wanting anything new at the moment but couldn’t pass them up.
@asheland Wow! great price - congratulations. These are historic beautiful coins. I don't know about GSA hoard, but with the Bank of Canada hoard about a third of the total mintageof the six was melted. The 1914 $5 started out with a low mintage of about 31,000.
@asheland .... Wow... Nice to have such beautiful gold coins just 'fall in your lap'.... The Numismatic Great Spirit was happy with you.... Cheers, RickO

I love the history of these. I'm still hoping to find a 1912 $5 (Klondike gold) in original mint packaging. If anyone comes across anything.
Probably eBay or maybe put a want thread on the BST. Perhaps a member has one they’ll sell….

Most of my best buys have come from my LCS when my visit is perfectly timed! Great deal, get 'em when you can!
Those are nice! If I had more money, Id come over the mountain and buy them off of you! You have the complete NGC set, all at once! Were you aware of that?

I wasn't sure initially, I knew I had at least half of the set... But the paperwork I got the other day shows that this particular hoard is all 5's. So I guess so on this one...

I picked up the 1914 a few years ago nice coin 🙂
I picked this one up ungraded for $50 over melt, came back 63 so no complaints.

A new development, the people that sold everything to my work showed up today with a lot of boxes and COAs for the stuff they sold two weeks ago….
I got this:
it came with the coins I bought originally, definitely cool to keep this with the coins

Darn, I was hoping you were going to say they showed up with more and your boss needed another buyer.
Glad you could get all the things that came with the coins.

I remember when there was a release in 2012/2013. A thread here https://forums.collectors.com/discussion/873716/1912-1914-canada-5-amp-10-hoard-being-sold/p1 I really wanted one at the time but the timing was not right with a Mrs Bat being converted to an Ex Bat. I still really like the look of those coins.
I doubt there's more, but if there were to be, I could PM you.
