Not surprisingly the Pilgrims (think Plymouth, and, to a lesser extent, Massachusetts) were Pilgrims.
The RI Commem has Roger Williams in the canoe. He was a Puritan. Puritans and Pilgrims are not the same. Here's a link that explains the difference.
