If you are going to deep fry a turkey in one of those oil fryers, heat up the oil as per instructions, then right before you submerge the turkey in the hot oil shut off the fire and gas first, so if the oil overflows it won’t catch on fire! Then after the turkey is in light the fire again! What are your thoughts?

LOL, I thought you were gunna say "shut off the fire and gas first" which you did say, But then I thought you we're gunna say .... "and put the Turkey in the oven" :)

    Well that would be safer

The other piece of advice Is never try to deep fry a turkey that is frozen or still partly frozen and make sure the turkey is completely dry. Water and oil do not mix.

Agree, but I do think the post was in jest (given there is no PCGS Cooking Forum) making fun of those who are quick to call for moving a post to another forum.

@AUandAG .... Wow... I have never seen a raw turkey deboned. That would be quite a project, and not one for the inexperienced. May I ask why it was done?? I have smoked many turkeys, but all fully intact. Cheers, RickO

@AUandAG.... Wow... Not as difficult as I imagined, though still a bit of work for sure. I would use different stuffing though.. not sure what at this moment... We have turkey a few times a year, so maybe one of these is in my future. Thanks for posting the video. Cheers, RickO

If the turkey is completely dry, won't it end up being rather dry? 😜

Do Not attempt to deep fry the turkey close to the house. Especially Under the roof eves. See post above! Anyway, I'm in the fire protection business.... Southern California.....deep frying a turkey or anything else for that matter is a good way to catch the house on fire. Seen it many times......you'd be surprised. Be safe!....HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!🦃

MAN IT'S WINDY AND DRY IN SOCAL TODAY! LOOK OUT! 🔥

Pretty lame as explosions go, but certainly I would not want that in my back deck.
