GTG-1804 Draped Bust Half-Cent

lkeneficlkenefic Posts: 8,169 ✭✭✭✭✭

I finally finished the Early Copper section of my Type Set with this piece. 1804 Crosslet 4, Stems. It's the most common date in the series and not too difficult to find nice. I like the color on this one (medium brown) and the surfaces are clean with a few contact marks consistent for the grade. I picked this one because of the retained cud in LIBERTY... a Late Die state coin... I guess I like the character and I believe it still fits with the rest of the Everyman Album. So, what do you think? I'll post "the rest of the story" later...

Not my area, but I'll guess low VF. Pleasing coin.

Another nice copper. Looks to me like a 30 as far as wear, with nice surfaces, but I'd think it's net graded to 25 or even 20 due to it having a couple rim dings.

VF-20 sharpness, but if the white balance in the photo is accurate, the color is not natural.

In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

I would guess VF25. I'm guessing that the actual coin is the right color and you just get bad photos like I do.

Thanks everyone... obviously my photographic "skills" leave a lot to be desired... :-)
