Thanks for that, I could see it in the loupe so I looked on the scope to see what was going on. I decided to get some more experienced opinions. I just didn’t have an answer for what I was seeing.
You are not alone with “what the heck happened “ problems. Is that smutz around “U” in United? Several good threads already running with a number of pictures and people with similar issues. Check the Morgan and Peace Dollar flippers welcome thread. Sorry. Most everything I received this year had problems. The reverse proof set is nice but there’s a ding on one of those so. I hear you!😉.
Welcome to the forum 👍🏼
Thanks for the replies and thank goodness for forums to inform inexperienced collectors like myself. I have not seen one that I received that would make a 70. I most likely won’t be sending any in for grading.

I’m inclined to agree. Interesting it appears to be on the date only. M D is said to have the step look to it and the numbers look like they are sitting on little pedestals. I shall wait with you but gunna venture a guess as part of grading class. So to speak 😎
My eye appointment with the MD is now scheduled for Dec 6th.
Edited to add that I am used to seeing more machine doubling with horizontal side shifts one way or another from the loose dies. This version does look more vertical like on a pedestal, evenly distributed on all sides, as mentioned above.
Well, I am happy to hear what you guys have to say because my eyes are not the best. The steps just look rounded to me so that’s what stumped me as I know MD is normally a somewhat straight cut and not rounded. I’m lost and learning.

Normal for the Matte or burnished finish? I'm not seeing doubling. That is extreme magnification.

Enjoy it with your eyes - under a high power microscope you're liable to see all sorts of things that can't be explained.

@MtW124.... Welcome aboard.... That appears to be minor machine doubling. Lots of problems reported on these coins. I was fortunate... Cheers, RickO
