Circulated and not really a fan of the color.

@TomB it isn't quite as dark as my photos make it appear. It has a light orange woodgrain looking toning on the obv and more uniform light orange on the reverse.

If I am interpreting the colors correctly, I like it. I've seen this kind of orange/golden streaky toning on these and they're highly attractive.

I like it as a "Woodie" (improper alloy mix) - maybe a low AU

I was thinking 55 as well. It looks much better in hand. My photography skills haven't gotten any better.

Agree with an AU55 grade. I like the color from what I can see in your pics. If you get it slabbed, please let us know what grade is bestowed upon your coin.

I too am in the 55 crowd. I hope it hasn’t been cleaned.
I think I might see some whispy lines on the Bison.
Edited to say I hope I’m wrong about the cleaning. However, aways make sure to look for that.

Cleaned and retoned. I seem to see a lot of hairlines.

1916 Buffs run the full gamut from lightly struck to pinpoint hammered. There are many to choose from.

This one looks typical and has been clashed. Dare I say it shows rub?

    55 sounds right.

I did not think it had been cleaned, until reading others, still not sure as the only sign I see is crazyhounddog's whispy lines reference to the Buffalo. I feel it would grade 58 if not cleaned.

That’s my guess, as well, based on the images.

Looks clashed. Am I seeing letters under the chin? "LUR" of "PLURIBUS" maybe?

    It's not your imagination.
