1832 Large Cent

Surprisingly difficult to find nice... the patch of corrosion nets this one down, but I like the coin otherwise. Thoughts and comments welcomed. I'll post the card that came with the coin later...

Medium to light brown and the obverse field doesn't look nearly as red as the picture indicates... at least that's how it looked on my laptop monitor...

Ahh, ok - it looks kind of gold and red on my monitor, but I know your eye and taste, so assumed it was really more light brown.
Looks to have XF45 details, LDS accounting for some of the weakness seen.
Guessing Reynolds called it F15+ or VF20, as he is nearly as tough as Grellman.

Nice large cent.... the corrosion you refer to is the patch on lower left obverse? At first I thought it was a worn, early cud....Cheers, RickO

Yes... on the lower left obverse near stars 1 and 2... Odd that it looks different on my phone vs on my laptop monitor...

    I love old copper!

  • That level of wear still leaves a great looking coin.
Old coppers are beautiful. Sitting at Tom Reynolds’ table once a year soaking it all in is so fun.

It's nice to see some old copper here! Thanks for sharing. The one I have in my collection was purchased from Mr. Reynolds as well, over 8 years ago.
