What am I looking at? 2021 D Morgan

I apologize if there is another thread this should be in, I haven't posted in quite a while. My father gave me his extra 2021 Morgan/Peace to sell and this Morgan D has something strange going on. Anyone know what this should be classified as? It appears to be on the coin, not just in the holder.

Your not the first. I’ve seen this mystery thread in different colors and I’m not certain where the forum has come down on this. It does seem to be in/on the coin. Lot of trouble with quality on most of the issues 🤨

a wire from a steel brush broke off. numerous Denver strikes have this error. i saw the strike through retained example on another message board.

    Not a wire, imo.

Looks like a piece of 'shaving' to me.

I agree with 'strike through'... looks like what Fred described. May command a small premium as an error coin. Cheers, RickO

It’s one of those blue fibers I was seeing all over the coins. There was red and blue small and big pieces like this inside and outside of the capsules.

This is what it is. Shavings..these are loose in the capsule. Yours are struck through.

Yes!! I got one of those threads too. I'm going to carefully open the capsule and remove the fiber someday.....it's quite annoying.

    Do it now

Contact with it may cause undesirable toning

I just checked my 2021Peace and fortunately, no threads, shavings or other detritus. Just lucky I guess. Cheers, RickO

Absolutely no excuse for those fibers to be in with the coin. Simply very lax Quality Control and especially with a product that got as much hype as these did.

Lint in capsules is common enough that regular ordering will have you see it several times per year.

You’ll get plenty of strike throughs too.

    Same for luster/mirror/frost breaks.

They raised prices and tossed the nice clamshells. I too would like better QC. Aren’t they making enough $$ extra to waffle-melt more?
