(43) IKE dollars

I've accumulated 43 IKE dollars over the years. Before I spend them, is there anything I should look for? None are silver.

Any of them in mint state grades are worth more than a dollar and worth a further look.
I have a few stored up myself. I just keep them for the heck of it.

Type 2 1972-P's are worth a premium.

Just remembered - my coin guy sells them for 1.25 / coin

I gave my kids Ikes for tooth fairy dollars. My daughter didn't care, but both boys became coin collectors from it.
Worth a look
Ok. Thanks. Now to do some research on type 2.

I have a couple hundred or so stashed in jars and tubes. Hoarded at the times of issue, and picked up over the decades at banks, stores, etc. I keep them as souvenirs of the last circulating large sized silver dollars.
i just bought 110 of them from my coin guy at 1.19 per.
Now I need to go out more often, and put them in tip jars.
I have a few ... raw coins and several in Mint issue boxes... Have never bothered to check for 'specials'... Will do that some cold, snowy day
Cheers, RickO
Watch for any errors.
Get into the Diva Ike website, some good variety stuff to check for. Let us know what you find. Peace Roy

I have a few hundred of them. My local coin guy will let me buy them for face value. He has a few thousand of them.
Well then he is losing money he paid a dollar for them when a dollar was worth more
I have a few that are graded and 40-50 in tubes. I don't really know why I keep them, other than the Ike $ is no longer minted. Also, I just like coin collecting.

I only buy ikes at shop for a 1.10 for one of my customers (and let him have em at cost) who likes em and sells them at flea market for 2 bucks, dont know how he does it, but he can sell as many I can get him. Whoever is paying 2 bucks for regular old ikes, is dumb IMO. Anyway, I always check for ty2 72's , once in a great while Ill get one and can get a few more bucks. 73's that were only in UNC sets, i used to pull, but really have no buyers anymore , so i just let my flea market guy have them too. 40% are diff, we buy them at percentage of melt, and sell them when i make a trip to refinery.
Intresting to note on the bicentennial Ikes, my flea market guy, says these are actually the hardest to sell of the clad dates, his ike buyers really dont like the 76's, and they are usually the last to go.
Unfortunately I don't have any 71D coins. Only P coins.
