I'll be at FUN Thursday thru Saturday. I decided to get a hotel room for 2 nights this year; the drive from Tampa SHOULD be 1 hour, but accidents can turn it into a 2-hour drive. I'll be spending a lot of time at the BCCS (Barber Coin Collector Society) table.

A Floridian here. Florida is very safe at the moment with low covid numbers that continue to drop. If one is vaccinated and has had their booster shot, they should be fine for attending the meeting. Florida may be the safest state in the US right now for avoiding covid.
You mean that deadly covid that is 99.7% non fatal?
Have you heard of long covid? Apparently not, get real 'dude.

UPDATE 1-Moderna CEO says vaccines likely less effective against Omicron - FT

Drugmaker CEO warns of "material drop" in vaccine effectiveness
Mutations mean existing vaccines likely need modifying - CEO
Financial markets drop (Adds background)
SYDNEY, Nov 30 (Reuters) - The head of drugmaker Moderna said COVID-19 vaccines are unlikely to be as effective against the Omicron variant of the coronavirus as they have been previously, sparking fresh worry in financial markets about the trajectory of the pandemic.
"I think it's going to be a material drop. I just don't know how much because we need to wait for the data. But all the scientists I've talked to . . . are like 'this is not going to be good.'"
Vaccine resistance could lead to more sickness and hospitalisations and prolong the pandemic, and his comments triggered selling in growth-exposed assets like oil, stocks and the Australian dollar.
Bancel added that the high number of mutations on the protein spike the virus uses to infect human cells meant it was likely the current crop of vaccines would need to be modified.
He had earlier said on CNBC that it could take months to begin shipping a vaccine that does work against Omicron.
Fear of the new variant, despite a lack of information about its severity, has already triggered delays to some economic reopening plans and the reimposition of some travel and movement restrictions

More like 99.2% non-fatal. Get vaxxed and boosted and covid becomes 99.96% non-fatal. If you have preexisting conditions, then stay home.
Edited to add - hadn't seen the comments from Moderna. Maybe I'll pass this year, too.
You guys are going to get my thread closed.
Stop with the childishness and let’s get back to the issue of whether or not you are going to the show I’m January.

I always enjoy attending the FUN show. The last few years though I have had better luck in the auctions than on the floor. I will probably skip the show .

No Victoria and Albert's?
I’ve been in regular contact with Israel Perez, the long term maitre d’. The latest info is they’ll likely reopen in the Spring. I’m very anxious to get a reservation ASAP!

A day without fine wine and working on your coin collection is like a day without sunshine!!!
It would be my first coin show that I've attended in more than 25 years. I hope to make it.
It's only about 150 miles from where I live & I have family in Orlando too. I'm sure it will be overwhelming. I remember when I went to my first antique telephone show in Orlando many years ago. There was so much to see & I came home with 2 early payphones.

What are payphones?
I saw stand alone payphone still working on the Northside of Jacksonville last week. I started to swing around & snap a photo of it.
The other day I was at a Sandwich shop & I had the correct amount of dollars & coins when I paid.
Another customer said "Wow, Change, It 's been a long time since I've seen anyone use change"
I guess most people use cards or their cell phone app to pay for transactions now.
My friend Steve and I will be at table 1102, We'll have some nice stuff including many Liberty Seated Dollars for sale.
Please come by and say hello, it's always a great show.

How did you get your table number? I didn't see them on the website and assumed the table draw had not happened yet.
I would love to attend the show but having just got back from Orlando, FL three weeks ago in mid Nov. and currently in bed with acute Bronchitis (the likes I have NEVER experienced before) am going to have to give travel plans a thought and probably be way extra careful.
Am currently on the mend since it is bacterial infection and not viral (possibly caught it from some door handle combined with travel fatigue etc.)
Anyways, throwing my two cents in here because of all the back and forth earlier, there is much more to look out for than just covid.
Stay safe folks.
Can anyone please tell me how much of an event it is to get into FUN if I am not a member. There is info online for the early entry and getting pictures for badges and everything. Do I need a badge to get in, or is it a show where they just need your name on a tag?
Anything would be helpful since this is my first time going.
Thank you

Simple and easy- walk up to the public registration booth and they hand you a tag and a freebie bag- write your name on your name tag and you’re free to enter. Takes all of about 30 seconds.

Never been to a major show? I never let work stand in the way of a show. I was even AWAL from work to go to a show.
I have submitted my request for permission to attend the NYINC show to the local regulatory agency (wife). Permission pending. Application supported by the fact that her parents have an apartment in the city to use and family close by.
FUN out of the question and NYINC looking that way due to Covid and having young kiddos who cannot get vaccinated.
