  • Same coin in all pics. Just me trying to capture the steps and tic marks on the coin!

The nick on the steps between the first and second columns concerns me. I don't think you'll get it.

  • Isn’t that something! The hard part under the 3rd pillar is all there. Yet a random nick u see may hold it back.

I don't believe PCGS offers a full step opinion on SMS nickels even though they do on the SMS 1994's.
None of the proofs of the series are designated because most have them.
There are two or three that appear to have full steps on Coinfacts and are not designated.
IF, your coin were a business strike, the nick would keep it from being a full step Jefferson. The minimum standard is
five complete uninterrupted steps. Your coin is an exceptional example and exhibits way more step detail than most SMS coins. Just an unfortunate hit by another coin in the step area.

Save your money. Unless you have a sure thing, which this coin is not, it isn't worth the cost of trying for the "full step" designation.

to my knowledge the 1965-67 SMS issues aren't strike designated as Full Step.

I just so happen to have setting in front of me a PCGS graded 1967 SMS Nickel in a MS66Cam capsule. the steps are a bit cleaner than yours with one slight bridge at step five just under the 3rd pillar, the area of typical weakness. as 'shag stated, no FS on these and they wouldn't qualify anyway.

keep the coin in a flip and save your money, then search for the other two dates which are harder to find.

@Smartical .... Welcome aboard... I agree with others above, it would not get FS anyway.... Keep searching.. Cheers, RickO

Its nice to see there are folks still hung up on steps. Nice steps coin OP, a keeper until you can find a better one. But that may not happen....so hang onto it and enjoy your accomplishment.

I think I have 5 or 6 MS66 left no FS and not SMS. I’ll pull them out this weekend and take some pic.

    Hoard the keys.
