Practically speaking, it would be nearly impossible to qualify for FDOI. You would have to go to the Mint store, but the coin in the day of release then overnight it to PCGS. Unless you live near the Mint or are willing to travel to the Mint, you'd never be able to get it in.
For some collectors, those qualifiers seem to be important.... for others (such as myself), they are meaningless. Just a marketing tool and appealing to sellers and the less experienced. I collect coins, not labels. Cheers, RickO
Like em or not they are part of the landscape. Fdoi sell for a premium. There seems to be a market buying and selling. I don’t have to like it to appreciate there’s an active group of collectors who will and do pay extra. I don’t consider them uneducated. They collect what they like. The circle is complete 😉
Funny you say that.........because the bears were kicked several years ago and the average collector was awarded the opportunity to get the FS designation.......which they weren't before. But sitting back and saying nothing always accomplishes much more, right?

This has been discussed. But the way you are asking the question is simply insulting to the hosts.
If you don't want to pay for 1st strike, don't? If you do, do. It's an optional service. Questioning their right to offer it seems problematic to me.
Same with FDOI. You can ask them why they have the conditions they do. But I'm not sure they need to answer to you.
I am against such dealer only FDI LIKE designations.
The words are “collectors club member”
A member should have full benefits
I remember when FS only cost 10 or 12. There were a couple of price hikes that surprised me. Not sure why it couldn’t still be $12.

Don’t kick the bears

Thanks for the insulting remark. You're the reason people don't post. Take your insults elsewhere....... If you don't like my posts then don't reply.
True statement.
