This is a gut punch to hear of Ron's passing. He was a guiding light in the field of Buffalo nickels and an inspiration to me personally. We corresponded frequently over the years and yet I had no idea his health was failing.
Like BuffaloIronTail, for a long time I thought his handle meant he lived in Key West. When I told him this, he said, "I wish." I find out now that he lived in Ohio.
Buffalo Nickel collecting is a noble calling. Ron was generous with sharing his knowledge.

I got this pm from Ron last year and the auction he talks about I also remember i had just started collecting this series and had no clue as to how rare the ones he sold were at that time.
(And thanks for the compliment-it's a great feeling to be the first to report a variety.
I put a set of what I consider to be the "top 25" Wash 25c doubled dies. They consisted of-
(The ones with an * are the ones I first reported. The '70-D #2 was on the cover of ""Errorscope." I'll be damned if I can remember the other three, at least for sure. I sold these in a Heritage auction back in 2012. They were all XF45 thru MS65.)
Now I started to do the research yesterday and have found out the 1970 D DDO-002 that Ron discovered is now in the Dr Phillips Collection and I talked to him yesterday and he said he was very interested in making sure the provenance is put on the coins that i can figure out were in the 2012 sale that Ron talks about. Does anyone know if I can get a copy of the errorscope issue? Does anyone remember when it was featured? Thanks...
Man, I'm speechless. What a great guy and a great contributor
My condolences to your family, friends, and the whole collecting community - Rest in Peace Sir.

My memory is not the best but I believe he originally went by CoinQuest when I met him though the internet years ago. Don't know if it was on the Bay, thru the old Full Horn Buffalo Nickel Club, or just his former email address. Someone else later started using the handle so he changed to the spelling we're all familiar with now. Other people's memory may be better than mine.
Proud recipient of the coveted "You Suck Award" (9/3/10).
