Now I know where all those missing hidden numbers are at. I wonder if Mr. Sheldon ever considered how amplified his system would become?
The numbers like 13, 24, 37, 44, 59 etc. are all made up for. Between 64 and 68 and without even accounting for plus grades there are more grades between these numbers than there are between 1 and 58.
The four coins above are all 66 and some would say subjective or on any given day, I don't buy into that.
Then you/I might ask, how could that beat up looking 82 have the same grade as that beautiful 81?
Good question. Maybe because there are multiple levels in any one grade specifically at the top of the system.
My assessment would be the strike the of the 82 is absolutely hammered versus the strike of the 81 is weak.
If the 82 were struck like the 81 you would have maybe a 64. Whereas if the 81 were struck like the 82 you might have a 68.
Personally I think you got pretty good grades for 30 year old cents. I am no expert when it comes to grading but I can understand your frustration about the '81. The only thing I see could be a possible weak strike, but they are all beautiful coppers.
I think I do as well. The TV is really too bright. In hand it looks rose colored red. I'll post the picks later. And I may send in a few more of those to see if I can get lucky. 67 is so tough to get...
Maybe it was only the spots that held it back.

64, 64, 65, 65. Guess I’m the outlier on the low side.

Thanks for playing.
Nice looking cents... the '81 looks like the better of the four.... all mid to above 60's. Cheers, RickO
The 80 and 81 came from original bank rolls and the 79 and 82 (marked up) came from customer wrapped rolls.
Did you get a "red" designation?
Yes, across the board. Are you thinking reconsideration? I haven't tried that game yet.
I like the 80-D the best
