MS65 Plus Star Peace Dollar Value?

This coin has a “plus star” designation, interesting toning and is priced at twelve times the 65+ value. What value does a star actually add to a coin? I know that NGC awards a star for “exceptional eye appeal” but this seems subjective. Seller’s photos are all like this.

Value added is also subjective
And asking is not the same as getting
While the “Star” is a designation, the “+” is part of the grade. There’s no formula to determine how much of a premium a “Star” designated coin will bring.

Based on the photo, I am not that impressed with the coin.
It wouldn't matter to me if it had the Milky Way galaxy on the label I'm not paying a 12x premium.
Until some much more convincing photos get taken, that coin isn’t worth any premium to me.
Nuts
11.5$ Southern Dollars, The little “Big Easy” set
Yikes! One of them "I really don't want to sell it" prices.
"When they can't find anything wrong with you, they create it!"
Yeah, this is a coin looking for a trueview
Pocket change
I would not even consider that coin....and the price is certainly the result of a drug induced euphoria... Cheers, RickO
I would love to see what that Peace dollar really looks like in hand.

Just another common date Peace Dollar. I would pay no premium for it.
was there ever a time when NGC would have graded a coin as MS65+W* if it met there criteria?? I have always felt all the "add-on's" after the grade were a bit over the top. JMHO, of course, since I know many, many others like them.
I think NGC stopped using the "W" designation prior to the introduction of plus grades.

The "value" of the coin is whatever someone is willing to pay for it.
Ready, willing, and able to pay for it...
NGC's pics in the cert verify. It's just a wow asking price in a pop 1 grade. Ask yourself if you covered the grade up with no clue what it was and you let the coin speak for itself, would you be willing to pay the ask?

Ahhhhh......nope! Obv is not pretty enough for me. Peace Roy

Is the star some sort of mechanical error? I don’t see it and I have owned star toned Peace Dollars so I can appreciate the rarity of true rainbow toned coins . This coin looks mediocre to me.
I seriously doubt it was a mechanical error. We don’t know what the coin looks like in hand and it need not be rainbow toned in order to be worthy of and have received a “Star” designation.

No, but a star supposedly has excellent eye appeal. Based on the two sets of photos we have from two independent photographers, the coin doesn’t look like anything special. I’m of course open to the possibility of it looking better in hand, but NGC is notoriously inconsistent with the designation so I am resistant to giving the coin any benefit of the doubt.
The toning is nice for a Peace dollar but that coin is not worth 12X to me. Maybe 2X tops.

The posted pictures aren't especially flattering. Coin must look better in hand.
I always judge a coin on if my future kids/grandkids would be honored or horrified to inherit one of my coins.
$300 coin max for that grade. Way better toned coins out there, especially with that busted up cheek.
Just heard my future unborn kin shrieking after looking at that abomination
