The truth comes out.

Sometimes it takes a while.

I'll bet they were amped when that walked in
Did the US Treasury officially deny the existence of these rarities? If so, when did the denials end?
It’s amazing how many times the Treasury/Mint denies something only to be forced to tell the truth later.
So the Dealer had three in his possession and knew of four others? A newspaper article is only as good as the person who wrote it. Has Spadone’s name ever surfaced in any of the current populations history?
i'm not answering your question specifically but a quick search here turned up threads using the word "spadone."
I think that is about 125K 2021.
Probably a typo... Went to the spa, spa started, spa done. That kind of thing....
At one time the US Treasury declared the 1969-S DDO cent to be counterfeit and when someone sent one in to them to be authenticated, they confiscated it and had it destroyed.

They obviously have not confiscated the known copper 1943 cents.... Last I heard, there were seven of them. Cheers, RickO
This has to be the Spadone who authored those guides on error coins decades ago.
