I also need to know if I have to do anything such as reporting this to the police or any type of legal action
Post the same thing here:

That’s definitely a counterfeit.
I know and that is why I need advice on what I have to do
And I’m not the only one they have sold counterfeit Morgan‘s too. It looks like they have solid several
They’ll be able to help in the us coin forum
I bought the coins off of the app Mercari. I will post another picture of the user who is selling counterfeit Morgan’s

Post it in the us coin forum

@BigRig0526 Yes you need to file a police report to establish that crime(s) have been committed against you and you suffered a loss. You should sit down and write up a clear narrative of the events. Start at the beginning, first contact, who, what, when, how. It doesn't have to be a novel but the facts need to be spelled out. As a victim, you file a report with your police dept. You also need to prove how you determined the coins are fakes and that they were sold as authentic. Save all emails, text messages, mail, packaging, etc. Good luck. Peace Roy

@MsMorris Just curious, how are you able to tell from these 2 photos that it is a fake? I can figure it out if I have it in hand and do a Caliper test on the diameter and thickness and weigh it. The reverse almost looks too nice and obverse looks questionable to me, but what are you guys seeing that I'm not? You guys just amaze me with your knowledge of coins! Thanks for your insight.

I'll be glad to share why it's fake, but please post this over on the US coins forum as above. BST is not the appropriate forum.
The other thread by the OP was on the US Coin forum and the mods moved it here and then closed it.
contact Mercari because Zuko's Ins & Outs sold a prohibited item, see if they can help you get a refund
how did you determine these are counterfeit? I can tell just by looking at the picture of the reverse
I would contact the bank that sponsors your debt card and tell them you were a victim of fraud. They may be able to do a "claw back" and get your money back. If you are making scheduled monthly payments, they should be able to stop them. If they are not willing to help you I suggest that you close the account that your debt card is tied to. The scammer can't get future payments from a closed account.
Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.

How much are 3 silver dollars worth ? May need to call that tuition. We’ve all paid it. Learn first then buy. I’ve lost more on legitimate coins than those probably cost.
This is the BST forum...
Don't you have 3 days to get your money back on Mercari, do it asap
Moved to U.S. Coin Forum
The OP starts 2 threads one in the BST forum and one in the US coin forum.

The thread started in the US coin forum is moved to the BST board and then closed.

Have you informed the seller that you suspect the coins are counterfeit? Did they respond?

I don't know why they didn't just close them both.
As long as they move it to the Sports Talk forum before they close it.
Maybe, despite the fact that you don't like such threads, the thought was that the OP could obtain some helpful suggestions. I think he has.

How much money are we talking about here?
Yea those are absolutely fakes. Looks like it was cast not struck by the looks of the rim. If you are buying online, if it’s a cc you might as well just go for only graded coins in PCGS or NGC holders.
As I said in the other thread. Contact your local police department and go from there. The advice you get on this forum is not likely to be of great help. Unfortunately, the chances are that you have lost your money.
I don't mind such threads when they are actually asking for assistance. If you read the other thread, he told us he had already done everything we suggested. So, it ends up looking to me (my opinion only) more as a way to try and bad mouth a specific seller or platform than an actual request for information.
I would go right to the local police department walk in and ask for the desk sgt and fill a theft report. Start there and give them everything you got. Good luck! Let us know what happens next.
Why not the Stamps forum? They really need the activity over there.
Everything about the reverse screams fake. Look at the "feathers" on the wings and compare that with any TPG graded Morgan reverse. Your eagle's wings resemble dragonfly wings (with venation instead of feathers). The lettering, breast detail, fletching on the arrows, and the mintmark are also very different from a real Morgan reverse. Everything!
If you can't see that this is an obvious fake, then you should limit your purchases to only TPG graded coins until you can familiarize yourself with Morgan dollars and can recognize fakes.
Clear fakes, but I see in your OP that you refer to the seller as a coin shop. From your Mercari app screenshot, it sure looks like the seller might be better described as an online flee market who sells various items, including coins.
My suggestion would be to let the seller know you have determined these are counterfeits and ask how he would like to resolve the matter. It could be the seller has no clue they are fakes, or maybe he does, but chances are he might want an opportunity to make things right before it escalates.

The usual is playing out
A key piece of info buried in the thread is missed.
The op contacted the seller. The seller blocked him.
Missed that part. 👍

Did you try walking in and asking for a refund?
I think I read in one of the OP’s threads that the coins were shipped.

With all of the counterfeit coins in counterfeit holders, I’d add that any purchases should be limited to TPG graded coins being sold by very well known dealers.

I once got a fake trade dollar and approached the local police who said they could not do much, eBay policy got my money to be refund.

The rev looks like a hand cut die; the eagle'sfeathers look more like stone blocks or Lego's fitted together than plumage. The obv looks more like a transfer die, with grainy surfaces and mushy details. Hope the OP gets his money back.
where is Marcari? it seems smaller than craigslist ....
or are you suggesting going to Florida and banging on sellers address door?
The "CC" is blatantly wrong!

There are many things 'wrong'
I was curious if that item was pictured or if they sent something different than pictured.
I certainly wish the OP best of luck with getting a refund. Let us know what course you take and the results. Cheers, RickO
