2021 Mint Proof Silver Dollars VS MS70 graded -

What's the difference between purchasing a Mint Proof Silver dollar & one that is graded as MS70 ? Are the MS 70 Proof struck ? & which are more valuable ?

A Proof is a different type of minting and strike than a simple MS coin.

Proofs these days have a deeply reflective field (flat) and frosted details (design)

The MS coins are just silver blanks minted without any special finish. These are mass produced.

As far as value, the market sets the value of each.

I assume you are trying to decide which to invest in?

Welcome. Remember that a coin coming from the mint is not guaranteed to be a 70. Ms or Pf. Only a graded coin from a quality tpg co. Can achieve that lofty goal. Many’s the coin I’ve bought from the mint that was not a70 or even a 69. I personally buy a slabbed coin instead of sending in a coin. One and done. There are many people here who are very knowledgeable and my personal opinion changes as I listen to the other people here. 😉

Note. The majority of my ase collection is in original government packaging but I do have several certified ase’s.

@JOEYWV97 ... Welcome aboard....Good information above. As stated, buying from the Mint (PR or MS) does not guarantee a 70 grade. Grades are assigned by Third Party Grading companies, such as our host, when the coin is submitted and undergoes careful examination by trained graders. Good luck, Cheers, RickO
