My BST post vaporized! What happened?

Herb_THerb_T Posts: 1,755 ✭✭✭✭✭

I had a post up for a number of coins, I started adding photos with individual threads and as I added a photo and saved, up came a fast message that said my posting had to be reviewed and it was gone. What did I do wrong?

Probably nothing. Sometimes glich pops up and there you are, so to speak. Sucks to lose that work. I learned to screenshot just in case. Sorry buddy and hopefully it works out. 🙃

Maybe they enforced the one post per day rule.
You had six posts for your coins (or David Lawrence’s coins?) in about two hours.
Proper etiquette would have been to add all the photos to your ORIGINAL post, via using edit, not bumping your same post over and over.

I don’t know what the current protocol is. But in the old days, starting more than one BST thread per day was frowned upon, as it unfairly knocked other posters’ threads down (or off of) the page. Any chance that could have been the issue?

It was one post with a number of separate threads in it. I could have made it one thread with multiple edits as I added photos but felt from “making it easy” for readers it made sense to me to add threads. I will go the multiple edits route…still a PIA to lose it. Would have been better to have it frozen than lose it.

I've not run into an issue on the BST in some time, but I always do my edits to a word file... then copy and paste it into a single post...

Actually it is called one thread (aka "Discussion") with several posts (aka "Comment").
The problem is that each new post to your thread puts your thread at the top of the index page.
This is why "one post per day" makes sense.

Whenever I edit a post too many times too frequently, which I sometimes do, the whole post disappears and it says something like “your post will appear after it’s been reviewed”. But it just permanently disappears. If I was the Original Poster, the whole thread disappears if I overedit the original post. This happens on every section of the forum and not just BST

I don’t know if this has anything to do with what happened on your thread in the BST, but it might if you were editing the first post in the thread when it disappeared.

I usually take it as a sign that I’m trying to hard and that it isn’t the right time to post. It happens a lot if I’m over caffeinated and doing things too fast

I’ve thought of trying to do this deliberately if I change my mind after I post something and want to just delete it, but haven’t tried yet.

Yup…that is exactly what happened! I might try again tomorrow to put it back together…it was very annoying for sure!

you can add items (edit) to your first post and it will not bump the post to the top of the page. This is the preferred method when sharing the prime real estate on the BST. One bump per day max is the proper etiquette.

Repetition of ignorance is ignorance raised to the power two.

It works well to do the entire thing in word, and then transfer to a post. Serves two purposes... Not multiple efforts, and a permanent record in case of editing or loss. Cheers, RickO

I get the old ( your post is being, I don’t know, inspected). Inspected, reviewed, when I see that it means bye bye. Lately they don’t re-appear. 😉
